Have You Ever Looked Into Your "Religion"?

Or do you just believe blindly?

I used to as a kid. Used to go to church damn near everyday. Mondays, wednesdays,. fridays (youth meeting) and all day sunday. I didn't really mind because I was always messin around with the little shorties at my church SMH lol but yeah, I used to stay in church.

But as I got older and started researching more and looking into 'religion' some things weren't added up. Even as a kid, I questioned it but I kept it to myself. When I got about 13, I stopped going to church all together.

As of today, I think all religions are bullshit with a little bit of truth sprinkled on top. Alot of people just believe blindly. Mostly because of their parents. and their parents and so on. They don't look for the truth in their religion. Whenever I ask christians question about religion and God, they never really have any answers. When I ask them about the bible, they think it's a book written by God and in reality,

1- it is a book written by man

2- it is a book which has been altered

3- it is a book which doesn't follow a majority of historical events

4- no other historian in any civilization has ever mentioned this Superman, only 'Christe' which is a title called Christ... so where is Jesus of Nazereth?

5- I can say it is a good book to give you advice and help make you a better person, but

6- because of this books creation, history has seen the worst atrocities or crimes against humanity performed due to the leaders who preach this book and the sheep who follow them.

I dont even know why black people are christians. Hell, most of them dont either.

No, I've never looked into my religion.

    Why? Because I don't give a fuck.

I don't follow it blindly either though.

I went to catholic school my entire life, & when I was in elementary school I started noticing a lot of shit didn't add up. When I got to High School we used to have these days where the school chaplain would come into our religion class and answer any questions we had. He never answered mine. lmao. He always just gave me some bs answer like "because that's what the bible says" or something. That's when I really started looking into the origins of religion, which just brought up more questions that couldn't be answered by any religious people.

    ^^Same thing for me.
Everytime I asked some sort of puzzling question, the guy would just give me some bullshit answer that had nothing to do with what I asked or just say "''Cause it's in the bible."

I thank my family to this day for not being
such devout muslims who force they beliefs on
their kids. I never followed my religion and don't plan
on it either. I look @ Religions as a form of mind control
and as an assimilation process of humanity. Whatever
religion other people are devout about, that's good
for them but don't come forcing your beliefs on me.

    My religion is happiness.

Before that I did look into it with the help of my aunt who was a former devout Christian.

I was trying to believe... but naw.

Goodness knows I've been asking this forever. I'm sure before a bunch of white people came with Christianity there were tribal faiths/rituals whatever. And some of the most devout I've met are African or Caribbean. People need to start thinking for themselves and doing personal research.

    Anyhoo

I've always questioned things when my mother sent me to church every week. To tell you the truth, the first time i recieved an unsatisfactory answer to my question, I started researching. I must have been 8/9 then. To tell you the truth, what kept me going was music and singing.

I use to follow blindly until I was about 10 and started to think. Natrually I asked questions in the weekend classes I use to go with my siblings. I got beat up once because I was asking some 'inappropriate' questions.

I've spent most of my learning years questioning Islam, and because of lack of clarity and the typical DONT ASK THAT, YOU JUST NEED FAITH. or YOU'RE ASKING BECAUSE YOU DON"T WANT TO JUST ACCEPT ALLAHS GREATNESS and all of that other bull shit.

It's frustrating when you want to believe something but nothing is being given to you that makes sense.

It's stupid to believe even the most BASIC concept of evolution doesnt exist. You know what the quran apparently says about that? LOL We all originated from Saudia Arabia, where adam and eve were 'dropped'. Maybe this isnt the same story for muslims around the world but ...God damn how strange!
Have you ever heard a song that was so....amazing... that you felt everything inside you blowing up inside over and over, sending you into oblivion, and you end up feeling the strongest urge to cry, to move every part of your body until you cant move anymore and you know then, whilst the music flows through your body, that your spirit has never known a greater joy...music...is what I live for

ITA. my defining moment was when i realized if my parents were Indian I could have just as easily been Hindu, or Buddhist or another religion. its just because we are born into a family that tells us what to believe and every question you have has the same answers "because God willed it to be that way" or "because God blah blah blah" without any real answers. Plus things are rarely translated verbatem. when the bible was originally translated it was also interpreted so what is in the bible is not necessarily what was originally written.

And you're right, so many atrocities have been committed in the name of God, or in the name of the Bible or in the name of whatever religion. religion has been used to justify so many things that have been done in history.

and so many people who claim to be devout christians only follow the bible when it fits them. a 'friend' of mine condemns tattoos and says you shouldnt mark up the body that god gave you (knowing im a tattoo artist) and yet he has a tattoo himself. his reasoning is that he got the tattoo before he knew about the bible. Understandable. but that same friend continues to have sex with his girlfriend when they are neither married nor live together which is also against the bible and according to the bible, every sin is just as bad as the next.

i dont know. I think some people need religion because it gives them faith in something better and it gives them something to believe in but i personally think i am just as good a person as the next person who calls themself religious.

edited to add: scrolling up i realized i already replied to this thread lol
